Abstract

Keywords:

Lattice Boltzmann Methdos, Computational Fluid Dynamics

Abstract:

During the last ten years, there are a large number of investigations done by mathematicians and physicists to understand the Lattice Boltzmann Method as a numerical technique to solve incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The author will give a short overview about the concept of the method. Furthermore, he will explain and demonstrate the advantages and disadvantages to model and simulate complex fluids in complex three-dimensional structures with Lattice Boltzmann methods. I.e. in case of depth filtration, the Lattice Boltzmann method can be effectively used to solve the fluid dynamics in the resolved pore structure of the fibrous filter media.
