Abstract

The Advanced Mobility Research Center (ITS Center), Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo has developed "Universal Driving Simulator for Human, Vehicle and Traffic Research" which is appropriate for studies on ergonomics, automobiles, traffic engineering, etc. We are studying two problems related to improvement of driving safety utilizing this simulator. The former is the estimation technique of visual distraction and grouped into the driver monitoring. The latter is the optical dots which is one of road design techniques and related to the road infrastructure. In this paper, these studies are mainly described.
