Abstract

The effectiveness of presenting the auditgory information regarding the approach to the intersection or the tree aroma just before crossing the intersections for increasing the driver’s attention level to the oncoming vehicles was evaluted. In this study, the driver behaviour regarding the gazing action to the oncoming vehicle was investigated using the driving simulator. Based on this database of driver behaviour, a method for evaluating the reduction of driver’s visual distraction using the auditgory information or tree aroma was proposed by use of the Monte Carlo simulation based on the integrated error of driver’s error and environment error.
