Abstract

Driver assistance systems (hereafter DAS) will support the activities toward zero-traffic-accident. Maneuverability estimation for DAS has been required from human-machine interface aspects. In this study, muscle behavior in steering maneuver has been investigated in order to create an estimation method of a driver’s physical workload and an evaluation method for DAS. In this report, muscles behavior during keeping steering wheel the center position has been investigated. Different muscles have been activated corresponding to the direction of torque. In each direction, not only one but multi muscles have been activated at the same time. When a CCW direction torque has been generated by a driver, anterior deltoid has been firstly activated. And then, infraspinatus has been activated and middle deltoid and pectoralis clavicular have been finally activated.
