Abstract

Driving simulator is helpful for the development of active safety device and controls towards zero-trafficaccident. Target of this research is to improve driver maneuverability in a driving simulator which has variety of specification related dynamic motion and visual behavior. In this report, the steering reaction torque control corresponding to the vertical load of front tires has been introduced. The maneuverability has been investigated with the developed steering torque control. In a simulator without a dynamic motion, the developed control could improve performance of line tracing and suitable feeling between steering torque and dynamic motion behavior. In a simulator with a dynamic motion, the effect of the developed steering control has been limited because of the issue related with steering torque and motion. Therefore, the optimized the steering reaction torque corresponding to the driving simulator specification would contribute to improve driver maneuverability.
