Lane Mark Detection using On-vehicle LIDAR for Platooning

Abstract

By automatically keeping a short distance between each platooning vehicle, the quantity of aerodynamic drag can be reduced and the energy efficiency distribution improved. To achieve platooning, each truck vehicle needs to be able to recognize the lane mark and precisely calculate its lateral position from the lane mark. We developed a method for the lane mark detection based on feature extraction and position prediction.
