Abstract

In this paper, the effect of reducing the pressure of tire inflation on the efficiency of the brake system is investigated and a tire inflation pressure mechanism is proposed. The tests with different pressures on roller brake tester and different pressures and velocities on road are done. The obtained results for the roller brake and the road testsare insignificant congruence with together. Results show that the lower pressuretirehas better braking. To practically use the obtainedresults from the tests, and inspired by previous inventions connected to tire inflation pressure system with rotary feedthrough, a mechanism is introduced, by which the brake system can perform better. The proposed mechanism is activated during braking and fulfilled the defined conditions. This mechanism, with the rapid reduction of the pressure of the tires, improves the brake efficiency and reduces the stopping distance, and after braking with the rapid increase in tires pressure, provides the conditions for acceleration. If the mechanism is used and according to the obtained results in the brake tests on the roller brake tester and the road, it is estimated that at least 10% reduces the stopping distance during braking. The advantage of this mechanism over similar mechanisms is the use of onboard equipment. In other words, decreasing and increasing the tires pressure happens when the vehicle is moving. When using this mechanism, factors such as increases fuel consumption, increases in tire wear, and decreases in driving comfort can be neglected.Loss of facilities necessary for making, installing and examining the functions of the proposed mechanism in the vehicle is a significant constraint of this study. Using this mechanism can decrease fatalities and financial damages, by increasing brake efficiency and decreasing stopping distance.
