Abstract

As the technology moves ahead towards quieter electric vehicles, the noise caused by engine, transmission and tires has been steadily reduced in recent years. The aerodynamic noise becomes a significant contributor to the total noise. Reducing this noise is essential. Using Vortex generators in achieving desirable flow fields around automobiles while being able to use them as potential noise reducing or deviating regions is highly beneficial. Achieving noise reduction capabilities by using Vortex generators in automobiles is the main objective of this work.Firstly, identification of aerodynamic noise source around an Ahmed body is investigated.Then, a vortex generator is added to the body and acoustic effects are studied.
