Abstract

With the aim of reducing costss for bodily injuries, insurers increasingly relly on telematics­systems, that are offered as paart of modern vehicle insurances. These systemms often include an emergency-call feature (e-ccall), which in case of an accident allows the insurer to organize immediate help. In addition, thhese user-based insurances (UBIs), allow an adjustment of rates according to the customeer’s lifestyle and driving behavior. Students aat Trier University of Applied Sciences got the taask to develop a sensing system and algorithmm that would allow the identification of crash testss as well as provide reliable assessments of thhe driving style.
