Abstract
Nowadays, all cars have at least more than 20 thousand parts. And also, every part in a car has distributed manufacturing by many numbers of producing at the same time. In addition, there is durability deterioration by wear-out. Those reasons cause drivers to complain to automakers about inconsistent driving feels such as steering efforts, riding feel and so on. Some drivers think that those differences are natural phenomena and some others do not think those are not. For instance, the level of steering effort tends to be getting lighter than the brand new vehicle’s one because of the reduction of the system friction by wear-out. So,( this paper focuses on overcoming different steering feels by distributed manufacturing and durability deterioration. That is, this technology uses the real-time feedback friction compensation by comparing between the level of the current steering effort and the target level of the tuned steering effort. It will be more helpful for drivers to trust their own cars with satisfaction.) The objective of this study was to keep the same steering feel even though the car is old and differences in manufacturing are generated by using EPS’ friction compensation logic.
