Investigation of the Parameters of Windshield According to Rider Height for Improvement in Comfort

Abstract

Nowadays, rider comfort has become an essential factor to evaluate the motorcycle performance, moreover, has a great impact on the design of the motorcycles. Currently, the windshield is used to give aerodynamic structure to the motorcycle with attractive looks without evaluating comfort factor. There are no specific data available for windshield height and angle with respect to the rider’s height. Here windshield is used to reduce direct velocity and dynamic pressure on the rider so that the comfort can increase. The aim of this paper to evaluate the minimum height and angle of the windshield, based on the height of the rider for enhancing the comfort. The analysis process consists of three stages: the creation of 3D models followed by CFD analysis and comparison of the results.
