Abstract
Steering is essential component in any type of the automobile vehicle, whether it is two-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, multi utility, heavy commercial or farm tractors. Steering assist the driver to move/guide the vehicle in his/her desired direction. Input to the steering varies with respect to driver & environment/ driving conditions. It’s impossible to control driver input wrt ideal/ desired conditions, so it is always better to analyze steering behavior in various Real-World Usage Conditions & shall design steering system for the same. The basic objective of this paper is to provide an insight and understand the behavior of steering system attributes as per real world usage profile and there by assess the variation in steering feel/ response at different surfaces, speeds, steering input rates & tyre pressures.
