Abstract
Passenger ergonomics is a major selling factor for a car. There is always a scope for improvement in this area. With the advent of gadgets, a factory fitted arrangement to support gadgets is of high significance. This paper presents design of a retractable, inclinable, height adjustable gadget mount. Using DFSS methodology the requirements were summarized and different concepts were developed and analyzed for its merits and demerits. The design thus proposed makes use of the reinforcement frame on the rear side of the front seats to which the gadget mount subassembly is secured. Additionally a head rest mounted support is also proposed. The design was analyzed for ergonomic compatibility with passengers of various heights and age groups.
