Abstract

With the popularity of new energy, it is necessary to construct driving cycle using suitable method specifically for the new energy bus, due to its difference from the tradition type. The driving cycle should also reflect the traffic characteristics in one region. This paper presents the construction processes of the driving cycles of typical city new energy buses in China and the effects of construction methods on the driving cycle results. First, the bus driving database was built by collecting running data of different buses under various road conditions in 17 typical cities. Second, two different methods, including Short Stroke and Markov Chain, were used in this study to construct the bus driving cycle of 4 cities. Third, the driving cycles of new energy buses of the 17 typical cities were constructed using Short Stroke method. Finally, according to the weight value and the bus driving cycle of each typical city, the new Chinese city bus driving cycle (N-CCBC), which reflected Chinese characteristics, was constructed. The results show that Short Stroke method is more suitable than Markov Chain method to construct the driving cycles of typical city new energy buses in China. The existing CCBC should be improved to represent the driving cycles of city new energy buses according to the N-CCBC in this study.
