Abstract
RESEARCH AND/OR ENGINEERING QUESTIONS/OBJECTIVE Every year, around the globe, millions of new tires are produced and 600 million tires are replaced. From replaced tires, 30% are used for retreading ,27% are used as fuel and 16% are reused as additives after granulation. Rest is left to stockpile, risking fire and smoke hazard, and used as landfill, posing enormous threat to environment. Hence a sustainable solution is necessary to overcome this exigent issue. An innovative way to ensure recyclability is to convert it into reusable material called devulcanized rubber. Reuse will help in bringing down cost, improve sustainability and mitigate one of potential ecological threats.
