Abstract

In this contribution the model-based design of a full-sized coupling element based on magnetorheological fluids (MRF) for a dedicated hybrid transmission is presented. Certain novel features of the design like a MRF-based sealing and serpentine flux guidance will be considered by a simulation-based approach. By proving the appropriate design of the coupling element experimental investigations show a fast torque response and the elimination of viscous and sealing-friction induced drag torques for certain rotational speeds.
