Abstract
The research emphasizes on developing advanced technologies to reduce BSFC, emissions and optimized friction. It focuses on two primary systems i.e. efficient coolant system and oil system to improve the engine efficiency by reducing friction and emission concerns. Electromechanical water pump enhances efficient coolant system, and variable flow oil pump improves the oil system. The electro mechanical water pump is the advancement of the electrical or mechanical pump to get optimized performance out of the mechanism. The electro-mechanical pump works on the solenoid actuated clutch technology, which actuates the pump as per the need of engine cooling system to optimize the engine temperature. The mechanical drive works near engine rated speed where high flow is required and electric pump functions at remaining working conditions. The coolant flow control strategy is developed to provide zero flow at warm up to achieve reduced warmup time and also to meet the high cooling requirements at engine oil cooler. The oil pump works on three-way stage operation to guide the oil according to different rpm and load conditions. The engine oil pump consists of main, sub-discharge and pressure relief path to direct the oil according to the need of oil flow. The solenoid actuator installed at discharge port to provide efficient Cooling. The different stages provide optimized oil flow and pressure to minimize viscous frictional losses.
