Abstract

The engine control is the core of automotive electronics, which demands meeting the time critical requirements. The time critical requirement needs high accuracy with precision, one such critical functionality is estimation and generation of continuous engine position (angle clock). In order to cater to such a requirement, we would need sophisticated models and algorithms to be incorporated within the software. This paper puts forth a method to enhance the accuracy of estimation of this angle clock during the normal mode of operation as well as in crankshaft limp home mode. The aforementioned method makes use of a fuzzy controller along with modelled sensed engine variables and vehicle parameter for better accuracy. This, in turn, results in bringing about an overall improvement in the driving comfort as well as performance of the system.
