Abstract

Continually increasing customer demands and legislative requirements for fuel economy, emission, performance, drivability and comfort which need to be met by each OEM worldwide. Low Idle governing (LIG) is one of the critical parameter which, if not tuned properly will lead to less fuel economy & customer discomfort in Indian city drive conditions, especially in lower gears. LIG is one of the comfort parameter, because driver likes the vehicle which is fully in his/ her control, it means engine responds only when the accelerator input is being given. Driver expects full control & slow vehicle response on snow/ rough road/ speed breaker crossing/ under braking where the wheels should not spin & less speed is required. In this subject we can find the vehicle behavior in each gear in idle condition with respect to engine RPM fluctuations, idle speed & stabilization time. The same will help to optimize/ tune low idle governor which in-turn result in delightful customer experience in city driving conditions.
