Abstract
Engineering Questions and Objective Development project was implemented to understand new requirements from this market segment and to provide an innovative, suitable solution. Diesel engines below 19 kW/cylinder are currently equipped with mechanical Diesel fuel injection system (FIS), presenting limited injection control, e.g. begin/duration of injection and temperature/pressure compensation. With even more stringent emission legislation also for this engine segment (Off-road: USA EPA TIER4 Final, Europe Stage V; On highway: India BS6), more accurate injection control is required, Another important requirement for this segment demands very compact FIS components due to typical small engines, representing an additional design challenge.
