Abstract
In the conventional world, design and analysis are operating in isolation with each other which leads to multiple iterations between design and analysis to arrive at the final design which may not be optimal design. In this paper, a method is proposed to develop auto tool that aid in the integrated design and analysis of powertrain components to come up with first time capable optimal designs with just one iteration between design and analysis. Based on this method, the designer can then choose one optimized design which also meets requirements from a manufacturability/costing perspective. Since optimization procedure is now automated, the designer can come up with the most optimized design much early in the product development process. This method is validated by using it to design a Low Pressure - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (LP-EGR) cooler outlet region with least pressure drop for the given packaging constraints.
