Abstract
Robots have been used in manufacturing for quite some time but they are always operated in isolation to ensure the human safety. There are many applications which requires robot and humans to work together without any barricade in between. This lead to the invention of collaborative robots. This paper does a comparison study of the available collaborative robots in the market and explains some of the implemented applications of collaborative robot in a typical automotive manufacturing plant. This paper also provides guidelines for carrying out risk assessment before deploying the collaborative robot for any industrial application.
