Abstract

The current methodologies to assess submarining have some limitations that is why the development of a new submarining assessment criterion become a concern if safety wants to be improved. The main purpose of the study is to develop a procedure to identify the submarining effect without restrictions. The methodology has to be able to assess the phenomenon from the principal sensors equipped on the dummy as the best way of assessment. The analysis the iliac load cell as a sensor able to provide important data, the creation of a new variable called “distance” not only for indicate if submarining has occurred but also to predict how far is to appear and perform a regression to validate the relationship between the submarining effect and the new “distance” parameter are the main goals which the study was focused on. The results of the study are summarized in this paper.
