Abstract

In-vehicle activities, such as manipulating electronic devices, talking on the cell phone, and drowsiness, induce driver’s inattention state and degrade driving ability. It is increasingly recognized as a primary cause of road crashes. In this paper, the Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system is proposed to facilitate classification of driver’s state by monitoring data from on-board sensors and detecting specific driving patterns. All codes of the DAW program are developed to comply with MISRA C guidelines and tested to verify functional performance through simulation and driving with various road conditions.
