Abstract

Brakes are nowadays considered as the main emitters of micro- and nano-particles in road vehicles next to the internal combustion engines. Regenerative braking enables blending operation with conventional friction brakes allowing a significant reduction of brake wear emissions. In this study, the potentials of a control strategy for regenerative braking are presented and the associated benefits discussed.
