Abstract
To evaluate Wheel Slide Protection (WSP) performance according to current test standards (e.g. EN 15595 and UIC 541-05), a test rig which simulates the specific adhesion conditions can be used. Use of the test rig allows to significantly reduce the number of costly and laborious track tests. On the other hand, it is not clear whether a WSP system adjusted to specific test conditions will be optimal under all naturally occurring conditions. To improve the reliability of the simulation, we elaborated a method to evaluate the more detailed performance of the WSP system.
