Abstract
The overheating brake discs lead to several serious problems in vehicle safety and marketability. Therefore most OEMs make a greater effort to increase cooling performance, but brake designers are experiencing trial and error because it is difficult to confirm that the heat capacity of the discs is satisfied. This study has been performed to investigate the influence of the shape of brake duct on the cooling process by using CFD and Optimization. Also, the heat capacity test mode of the brake rotor was analytically implemented and its effect was confirmed. In early design stage, this study will help to design the brake duct effectively.
