Abstract

Equipping motorcycles with ABS contributes significantly to avoiding traffic accidents, as the ABS enables the rider to brake more effectively in critical situations and keep control of the motorcycle at the same time. The contribution of ABS to motorcycle safety has been confirmed by numerous international research studies, making it the safety technology with the highest possible benefit for motorcycles available today. Based on decades of experience, Bosch has developed new small & light motorcycle specific ABS systems to open the technical possibility to equip even small two-wheelers and thereby accelerate the proliferation of this life-saving safety system in the market. Bosch has also invented & developed technology special processes for manufacturing, design of packages and integrated circuits in order to realize an in-house production. High volume production and automotive related quality targets have made sensors reliable and affordable. Thus PTWs have gained benefit and have moved to a new level of safety and comfort systems. Already the second Gen sensor unit for lean & pitch angle calculation is coming into the market.
