Abstract
This paper shows the numerical analysis (thermal and stresses), first the brake system and second the brake discs for the Taurus class locomotive. The numerical analyses were carried out under the experimental standard procedure (UIC CODE 541-3). The main boundary condition was the heat flux into surfaces of brake disc. Analyses were carried out with the finite element method (FEM), using ABAQUS software. Comparison of results is showed the great impact of connecting elements to cooling of brake system.
