The development of the propulsion system for vehicles has to answer to some special challenges. One of the major priorities nowadays represents the reduction of greenhouse gases and so the reduction of the fuel consumption for vehicles, for a sustainable development. But in the same time we have to take in consideration the safety, comfort and transport capacity of the present vehicles.
This paper represents a study on the integration of an energy recovery system, energy which is dissipated in the vehicles dampers. From dynamic point of view, the vehicle is a sprung mass during a vertical movement, due to the unevenness of the rolling path and the functioning regimes. This vertical movement is considered an energy source for a hydrostatic propulsion system. Two different working principles, the serial and parallel connection of the hydraulic cylinders, are presented and analysed. The numerical and digital simulations of the energy recovery systems were realized with the help of AMESim software.
