Electro-hydraulic clutch actuators are an important part of the automated clutch and transmission actuation, so the knowledge of their dynamics characteristics is essential. The availability of models that can be used to build simulators reduces the time and costs for designing new clutch control systems. In this paper, based on the modelling of a three land three way pressure reducing valve from literature, a dynamic model was developed for an electro-hydraulic actuated clutch used in an automatic transmission at Volkswagen cars. The model was used to design a simulator which permitted the validation of the modelling approach. The simulation results were compared with experimental measurements obtained on a real test bench proving that the model is suitable to this kind of actuator.
