Keywords: speed, distance, acceleration, transducer, measuring system, fuel consumption.
On-board measuring systems for experimental investigation of vehicle dynamic behaviour were developed and used for measuring vehicle dynamic performances and fuel consumption. Measured vehicle parameters include: vehicle speed and distance, ride height, pitch and roll measurements, yaw rate, pedal force, wheel angular speed. Calculated vehicle parameters include relative slip. Comparison was made between the different types of vehicle speed and distance transducers. Examples of experimental results obtained using the measuring systems are presented: vehicle speed and acceleration during straight line motion, vertical displacement measured on each side of the vehicle during slalom test, vehicle speed and acceleration during circular tests, vehicle longitudinal and lateral displacement and vehicle trajectory during circular tests.
