Abstract

Keywords: Magnetic hysteresis, Jiles-Atherton, modeling, simulation, discrete, Simulink, real-time.

Actuators and motors which contain magnetic materials are usually modeled by simple equations which do not take into consideration the magnetic hysteresis. These simplifications are made in order to have a real-time model which can be used for real-time simulators (dSpace, Opal-RT, National Instruments). By making such model simplifications, the lack of magnetic hysteresis could lead to system dynamics which is different from the real behavior. In this paper the authors present the Jiles- Atherton mathematical model for magnetic hysteresis. The model is discrete, the behavior being simulated using Matlab/Simulink simulation package.
