The paper elaborates a mathematical model in order to study the dynamics of the tractor-attachment system during braking. The braking forces as well as the force at the tractor-attachment hitch point are determined by using Lagrange equations. The paper presents the applications of this method for a tractor-attachment system used on a regular basis, considering different braking systems, road conditions, different values of the attachment mass/tractor mass ratio as well as different values of nonsynchronization during the brake control process.
