The paper is a brief presentation of the Romanian “VZN” shock absorber concept performances, obtained during 10 years of theoretically studies, simulations, on rig and road tests.
”VZN” is abbreviation from Variable Zeta Necessary for optimal behavior in all road and load conditions, where Zeta represents the relative damping, modifying stepwise according piston position.
The VZN concept is granted with European Patent EP 1 190 184, validated in Great Bretagne, Germany, France, Italy and Spain and with Romanian Patent RO 1 18546. The VZN damping coefficients autocorrelation with load and road conditions, the damping valves replacing with metering holes, the rebound and compression stopper bumpers reducing more 70%, due to the efficient hydraulic system, the cheap solution of cylindrical valves, make VZN damper an semi-active damper, produced at the price of a standard damper or cheaper, being the best solution. In suspensions “VZN” increases body stability at bounce (giving SKYHOOK behavior) pitch and roll, increases comfort and body and axles protection reducing the number and violence on bumper collision, in all road and load conditions, at prices of standard shock absorbers.
Tuned adequate, give constant deceleration in a large speed area, so it protect perfect road vehicles at horizontal crash, used like damper in bumper and for aerial vehicles suspension, protected them at vertical crash during faulty landing on ground or deck, Both situation it protect at 30 km/h crash. The same it is perfect at seat and cabin suspensions, increasing progressively the damping force giving comfort and mechanical protection, eliminating or reducing the number and the efforts at the end stroke collision.
