Abstract

Gears have been used for the purpose of power transmission due to excellent power transmission performance, low cost and compactness. In addition, because gear pairs have secure speed ratio, compact structure, excellent efficiency, they are used for many machines including multi-range transmission. In order to transmit higher power, the multi-range transmission will require gears which have greater strength than the existing one. This study has evaluated stability and durability by gear analysis of multi-range transmission in the commercial vehicles using ROMAX-DESIGNER program. Also, verification for gear strength design is carried out by the analysis results compared with gear strength theory of AGMA standard. Bending stress and contact stress on the gear are lower than their allowable stress. As a result, we could evaluate the safety of the gear strength design in multi-range transmission.
