Abstract

MOBI-one is a research project supported by the programme POPTEC (Programa Operativo de Cooperación Transfronteriza España – Portugal) and carried out by two R&D automotive centres, CTAG and CEIIA, located in the “Galicia – North Portugal” Euro-region. The project explores and develops new concepts and solutions on electromobility for the Euro-region addressing different short, mid and long-term objectives.

CTAG is specially focused within the project in two main research areas:

- New propulsion concepts based on electric hub-wheel motors. To this aim, new control algorithms for energy management, power train and vehicle dynamics have been implemented in a dynamic demonstration platform designed within the project. Special emphasis has been paid to the possibilities that digital maps and C2X (car to car and car to infrastructure) technologies can offer to extend the vehicle autonomy and range. Also a dedicated developed integrated control chassis concept has been implemented and tested within the dynamic demonstration platform.

- Human Machine Interface solutions for future generation electric vehicles. A special HMI concept has been designed, implemented and tested within CTAG´s dynamic driving simulator. Future urban scenarios have been developed during the project and implemented in the simulator to test the different solutions.

This paper will present the general overview of MOBI-one project including objectives, time schedule and work packages. Then, the dynamic platform based on electric wheel motors will be introduced explaining in detail the electric/electronic vehicle architecture, the developed control algorithms and the technical results coming first from initial simulations and later from real tests. Afterwards the designed HMI solution will be reported showing the user and technical results obtained with CTAG´s driving simulator. Finally, next steps and main conclusions will be commented.
