Abstract

The article summarizes the experience from research and development tasks aimed to optimization of the natural gas fuelled engines, which are destined as a prime movers of combined heat and power (CHP) generation plants. Even if certain differences exist between stationary engines and vehicle ones (as concern operating range, legislative demands, accessory layout and so on) certain amount of knowledge is useful for both types of engine application. The optimization technique and its result will be reported concerning engine environmental properties as well as its power and efficiency. Both model results and experimental data will be described concerning behavior of closed-loop mixture strength control system, which is used on l = 1 / TWC engines. General conclusion will be derived concerning influence of l-control system behavior on catalyst efficiency.
