Abstract

The torque generated by piston engine is poly-harmonic, what influences fatigue life of powertrain and suspension assemblies. Dynamic solicitations incite vibration and decrease environmental quality of the whole system, being major source of mechanical noise.

Double Mass Flywheel (DMF) is the concept for reducing torsional vibrations, immanent to crank and piston assemblies - because of cyclic nature of its combustion process and cinematic relations. It is already used in top-class passenger cars. The research undertaken aims at validation of its effect for specific uses and widening the DMF scope of application.
