Abstract

Crash simulations are an important part of the product design cycle in the bus industry where each vehicle especially prototype is very expansive. This paper deals with a simulation method of bus rollover according to European

Regulation using PAM-CRASH. A system of the bus pillars impact tests under a range of velocities is used for dynamic material properties tuning as well as a physical roll-over of the body section verifies these tuned properties in comparison with their simulations. After these verifications even with optimisation process or sensitivity studies the complete bus simulation can be done with following granting of type approval. In the end of paper is a comparison of different bus structures in view of their rollover resistance.
