Abstract
Due to current regulations, the car industry is obliged to constant improvements of the passenger car body, especially considering the stiffness of the entire bearing construction, and of some bearers, joints and substructures. These demands are even more prominent at models that are being produced at the moment. In this paper we have considered the possible application of new generation plastic masses in order to increase the stiffness of sensitive car body joints. The advantages of their application are the following: there is no change of shape of sheet metal pieces, and the present technologies are maintained. In order to show the real influence on the construction, we have investigated the bearing construction of the frontal framework in laboratory conditions. On the basis of analysis results, the locations for possible application have been suggested.
