Abstract

In order to reduce fuel consumption and air pollution of passenger cars as well as to provide inner city zero-emission driving the Autark Hybrid, a hybrid CVT-based drive train concept, is developed and investigated at Technical University of Munich. Currently, a test vehicle based on a conventional compact class car is assembled. Besides the propulsion unit consisting of a standard ic-engine, an i 2 -transmission and an electric motor, several additional components, i. e. hydraulic supply, have to be fitted inside the engine compartment. Traction battery, control system, and extended electrical power supply are placed in the area of the loading floor. Different systems of the standard car loose their function, become inapplicable or have to be replaced. Moreover there are further displays and operating elements at the driver's disposal. For extensive testing and optimising parallely to the vehicle a second drive train Autark Hybrid is implemented at a test rig. The drive train has already been demonstrating its functionality in simple scenes as i. e. acceleration but also showed it's capabilities in several standard cycles (i. e. NEFZ).
