The in-depth investigation of real world accidents over the last three decades has shown that the injury risk at all has been significantly reduced. Measures were always a combination of structural improvements and the different development stages of restraint systems. The structural integrity of the passenger compartment in offset frontal impacts as well as in side impacts got an increasing priority and is now, especially when press-hardened high strength steel is used for high-loaded structure elements, on an extreme high level. As the latest new development, the C-Class from Mercedes-Benz has been launched into the market. Consequently, the Safety Status 2007 will be demonstrated on the base of this car line taking also into account the latest state of the restraint systems.
