Although the combustion engine designers find the cylinder filling repeatability very important, the volume and composition of fuel load differ from cylinder to cylinder. This is the consequence of gas-dynamic phenomena in the intake manifold, difficult to be mathematically described and resulting from the asymmetry of the flow resistances on the way to the particular cylinders. The common part of the manifold averages the phenomena occurring in its individual channels. Determining the duration of the injection basing on the average figures causes differences in the fuel mixture composition in individual cylinders.
