Abstract
The system unit "wheel and tire" as the most important element of the force transfer system between vehicle and road surface can only succeed, if vehicle specific considerations will be fully integrated in future tire development. The focal point of all considerations is necessarily the wheel and tire force transfer capability expressed by the coefficient of adhesion and required by the single vehicle.
