The paper features the innovative use of a piston cylinder type air spring in combination with a parallel placed coil spring. A coulomb damping is proposed in place of other conventional damping systems. The characteristics and response of the system has been studied. The paper offers a potential field for application of control system such that the natural frequency of the system and the degree of damping may be varied so as to obtain minimum transmissibility.
