Abstract
Idemitsu Kosan is the first company in the world to have developed the traction fluid "Apolloil KTF-1", for half toroidal type continuous variable transmissions installed on automobiles. Traction type CVTs are regarded as high performance CVTs not only for gasoline engine vehicles, but also hybrid and diesel engine vehicles.
Findings in terms of traction properties of our fluids relevant to the traction drive under assumed conditions of practical use were summarized and introduced in this paper. And those results has allowed us to develop, "Advanced Traction Fluid", which enables compatibility of high traction coefficient with low-temperature fluidity.
