ABSTRACT:

ECDL, or the European Computer Driving Licence, is an internationally recognised qualification in Information Technology skills. It is accepted by businesses internationally as a verification of competence in computer skills. A fundamental characteristic of ECDL training lies in the incorporation of content and a methodology belonging to what has been called "IT education". Briefly, this involves recording, systematising, understanding and using the Information Technology concept, historically and socially constructed, to make of it an element of work, teaching, research and extension, in a dimension that exceeds the boundaries of simple computer and technical applications: as an instrument of innovation and transformation of economic activities, to the benefit of man as worker and of the country. The paper presents an analytic review of links between ECDL qualification and professional insertion in automotive industry.
