ABSTRACT:

The latest automotive engineering development, and the high level competition asks for new flexible ways to develop new part or improve the existing design, in a very short time. The time you are able to get a new product on the market is one of the most important challenges that a company has to face nowadays and could be one of the keys to become a successful company. If the requirement is to develop a new large product based on an existing design, you need a methodology that could keep you in business. If you don’t have one already, the larger the part is the bigger is the problem you have. The paper describes a methodology that helps managing a large part family, as GearBox Housing is. The methodology is based on a combination of an advanced PRO/E functions, and on the idea that you could easily manage large parts, if you divide them in an appropriate number of pieces.
