ABSTRACT

In order to carry out a complete analysis of parts reconditioned via build-up surfacing in which to highlight the reaction of these parts to mechanical and thermal strain, several testing methods can be used, such as: testing during actual running, testing on trail stands and by means of modeling and computer simulation using specialized soft. As the first two methods mentioned are rather time-consuming and cost-expensive, the mathematical simulation of various new and reconditioned parts has been selected. Thus, a contrastive analysis of the values of their specific parameters could be carried out. However, in order to assess the accuracy of the data obtained by means of this method, a limited number of new and reconditioned parts have been checked on test stands as well. In order to obtain results as reliable as possible, the numerical simulation took into account also the effect generated by the component parts that are commonly assembled to the studied parts. Thus, the simulation also highlighted the impact of the strain and stress to which the parts are submitted due to the variation of their dimensions. The conclusions based on the interpretation of the results obtained during these tests, were used by the authors in order to set up new technological procedures meant to improve the qualities of the parts reconditioned via build-up surfacing.
